XML Document Design and Standardization

The XML Schema Design and Management Guide was developed to facilitate Hong Kong SAR Government’s implementation of G2G and G2B joined-up services. The deliverable of this 10-month project was based on international best practices such as UN/CEFACT's Modeling Methodology (UMM), ebXML Core Components (CC), and Universal Business Language (UBL).

The objectives of the XML Schema Design and Management Guide are:

  • To provide (i) a methodology to specify the definitions and representations of information in a consistent and structured way as reusable information models and (ii) an approach to convert the information models of data elements into XML Schema Definition (XSD) code

  • To assist HKSAR Government's bureaux and departments, as well as their business partners, in maximizing reusability of XML Schemas and developing e-government joined-up projects (G2G and G2B)
