Project Prom
Funded by the Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies (LSCM R&D Centre), a new project on “An e-Logistics Appliance with Data Conversion and Exchange Technologies for Infrastructure Connectivity” has commenced on 1 July 2007 and will last for one and a half years. Apart from HK$6 million project fund, the project received industry sponsorships from Azeus, DTTN, iASPEC, ICO, and Kerry Logistics.
With Internet technology leveling the playing field, small companies and mega enterprises leverage their comparative advantages to deliver goods and services to customers around the world. In a favorable position to climb further up the value chain, Hong Kong has developed and adopted global electronic infrastructures to facilitate information flow of the supply chain. However, it has remained a challenge to many, especially the small and medium enterprises, to connect to these e-infrastructures like the Digital Trade and Transport Network (DTTN) due to their technical and financial capabilities.
This project aims to extend CECID's B2B Connector technology to become an e-Logistics Appliance to provide reliable and secure exchange of any electronic documents on the Internet to achieve supply chain integration between enterprises. The e-Logistics Appliance enables enterprises to connect to Hong Kong
logistics players by solving the interoperability problems with the
means of document exchange and conversion.
The deliverables of this project include:
- An eLogistics Appliance based on B2B Connector technology
- A special version of the Appliance and Service Modules for pilot projects
- eLogistics services Design Methodology for system integrators to implement e-logistics service solutions
- Pilot projects that deploy the elogistics Appliance in the companies for connectivity to major e-logistics service providers
