CECID Hermes 1.0.0.1 Released
Hong Kong SAR, Peoples Republic of China - 15 August 2005 - Center for E-Commerce Infrastructure Development
(CECID),
University of Hong Kong (HKU) is pleased to announce that
a new version of our open source ebXML software, Hermes 1.0.0.1 has been released
to the ebXML community, www.freebXML.org. Thanks to code
and requirement contributions by developers around the
world, Hermes has been continuously improving its quality
and performance. CECID would like to thank all the contributors
to this new release of Hermes. The list of contributors
is recognized in the copyright notice of the software.
Other than some bugs fixing, a few enhancement features
are included in Hermes 1.0.0.1. Firstly, Hermes 1.0.0.1
will reject self-signed certificate when verifying digital
signature. This new feature is to prevent a potential problem
which may occur when somebody uses a self-signed certificate
to spoof someone else with a correct application context.
Secondly, compared with previous version, Hermes 1.0.0.1’s
performance is enhanced when large payload is received.
Thirdly, Hermes 1.0.0.1 makes use of prepared statement
to enable database access optimization in some cases. Last
but not least, some coding has been rearranged in Hermes
1.0.0.1 to avoid overloading of database connection pool.
